Pieta provides a professional one-to-one therapeutic service to people who are in suicidal distress, engage in self-harm, or are bereaved by suicide.
The initiative was the brainchild of former rugby player Damien Browne, designed to get people out of their comfort zones for February.
Ciaran O’Connor, owner of a café called Soul Café at Portmarnock station, decided to set up the fundraiser with his friend and colleague Sean Flanagan as a way of “bringing people together” in aid of mental health support services like Pieta House.
